International Harmonica Festival In Pipeline
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- The Tourism Ministry has plans to turn the Malaysian Harmonica Festival into a world-class event to draw more foreign tourists to the country, said its minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen.
Dr Ng said she had also discussed this matter with Malaysia Harmonica Lovers Association (MHLA) president Chong Ah Kow, as MHLA is the organiser of the Ninth Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival being held here.
"We want this event to be the biggest in Asia Pacific with participation from many foreign countries.
"Apart from coming to Malaysia to take part in such events, they can also tour the country, hence increasing the number of tourist arrivals," she said in her speech at the closing of the festival.
The four-day Ninth Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival, held from Aug 3 to 6, saw the participation of 2,000 individuals from Asian nations such as Singapore, China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
