Iranian Film Modest Reception Stars Win Best Actor Awards At Indian Filmfest

TEHRAN, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- The stars of Iranian film "Modest Reception" won the best actress and actor awards at the closing ceremony of the 12th Osian's Cinefan Film Festival in New Delhi, organisers announced on Sunday.

Taraneh Alidusti received the Best Actress Award and Mani Haqiqi won the Best Actor Award for their portrayal of a rich couple who distribute plastic bags full of money in the Iranian provinces -- a handout aimed purely at degradation, Iran's Mehr News Agency (MNA) reported.

Haqiqi is also director of the film, which was screened in the Asian and Arab competition section.

The Best Film Award for the Asian and Arab competition was given to "Inside" from Turkey, directed by Zeki Demirkubuz.

The Best Director Award of this section also went to Faouzi Bensaidi for "Death for Sale".

In addition, the Best Film Award for the Indian competition went to Ajay Bahl's "B.A. Pass". It also won the Best Actor award for Shadab Kamal.

The Best Director Award for the Indian Competition went to Ajita Suchitra Veera, director of "Ballad of Rustom".

Several Iranian films were screened at the 12th Osian's Cinefan Film Festival, which ran in New Delhi from July 27 to August 5.

"The Orange Dressed" by director Dariush Mehrjuii was among the festival's highlights this year. It was the opening film of the Environment Section.

Ali Mosaffa's "The Last Step" went on screen in the out-of competition section.
