Only Indian Film Industry Can Stand Up To Hollywood, Says Actress

MUMBAI, June 13 (Bernama) - Indian actress Richa Chadda thinks that only the Indian film industry can stand up to Hollywood.

Richa, who made her debut with filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee's critically acclaimed film 'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!', was at the Cannes Film Festival recently where her much awaited 'Gangs of Wasseypur' film was shown.

"If you go to Europe, their cinema is suffering...cinema has taken a huge hit everywhere because of Hollywood. And Hollywood is America's largest export to the world...I feel very proud to be part of the (film) industry which has the guts to make big budget and different kind of films, expensive films...we are in a good place," Richa told Press Trust of India.

"I think we are the only industry in the world which has the guts to stand before Hollywood. Like if 'Avengers' (U.S. superhero film) and 'Rowdy Rathore' come together for a release, then there is no comparison. 'Rowdy Rathore' will still do well," she said.
