RTM, JKKN To Work Closely In Search Of New Talents
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- The Culture and Arts Department (JKKN) with cooperation from Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) will continue to organise and intensify efforts to search for new talents across the country.
JKKN director-general Datuk Norliza Rofli said various programmes had been lined-up to promote RTM, which was once also famous for its talent shows.
"RTM has produced many talented artistes who are still famous until today and this effort must be continued by giving it a facelift and improvement so that the new artistes produced by RTM can compete with the existing ones.
"Through this effort, the talents possessed by the young generation can be commercialised and thus, become their source of income," she told a press conference on the strategic cooperation for MyGempak Talents Carnival here Friday.
The strategic cooperation will see four culture and arts-based programmes be co-produced by JKKN and RTM. The programmes are 'Sri Pantun', 'Lantai Cilik', 'MyEkspresi' and 'Mimpi ke Bintang'.
Meanwhile Broadcasting Department director-general Norhyati Ismail said the talents sought after by RTM were not limited to singing and acting.
She said 'Mimpi Ke Bintang', for example, was a competition to find a creative individual with the most outstanding talent, such as in doing magic show, playing unique instrument, impersonation of people, drawing and dancing.
The winner will receive cash prize of RM50,000, while the first runner up will receive RM30,000 and second runner up, RM20,000, she said.
Norhyati said 'Lantai Cilik', on the other hand, was a traditional and contemporary dance competition for children, while 'MyEkspresi' was a competition for young choreographers, and 'Sri Pantun' was a programme to improve the arts of Malay language.
