'Bunohan' Storms To Victory With Three FFM Awards

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- The film 'Bunohan' stormed to victory with three of the first 10 awards at the opening of the 25th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM) tonight.

The film directed by Dain Iskandar Said was adjudged the winner for best original music score (received by Imaginex on behalf of the late Yuan Tan Tan Wei, best sound mixing (Raja Ahmad Shaidaley and Imaginex), and best arts direction (Dain Iskandar Said).

"I did not expect to win any FFM award. The victory is a result of cooperation in the production of the film Bunohan," Dain told reporters.

The 25th FFM was opened by Deputy Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Joseph Salang.

The winners of the first 10 awards were:

Best poster: Seafood (Silver Ant Sdn Bhd), best costume: 29 Feb (Hasnan Yaacob), best sound mixing: Bunohan (Raja Ahmad Shaidaley & Imaginex studio), best theme song: Ombak Rindu (Nurzaidi Abdul Rahman), best arts direction: Bunohan (Dain Iskandar Said).

Best child actor: Tee Jing Chen (Hantu Gangster), best promising director: Syafiq Yusof (SAM), best short film: Sanzaru (Reservoir Production Sdn Bhd), best animated film: Ninja VS Pirate (The One Academy), and best music original score: Bunohan (Yuan Tan Yan Wei) (Imaginex).

Disney's fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved wizard character.
